MECEC is intentionally building a coalition that values equitable representation. Too often, participation and contribution of ideas are limited to those with the resources to have the time and access to sit at the tables where policies and solutions are discussed – and that doesn’t always represent what is actually needed or wanted – let alone produce the best outcomes.
We want to change that. We embrace approaches that ensure opportunities for system solutions are constructed by all stakeholders.
That takes resources.
Resources for coordination, and resources to go directly to other organizations and community members to enable their time to be contributing solution seekers.

MECEC Overview
The Maryland Early Care and Education Coalition (MECEC) is a statewide effort of cross-sector private and public partners toward aligned advocacy and implementation goals with a charge of defining a supporting a shared early childhood vision.
MECEC History
MECEC’s formation is rooted in the years of collective impact work of Montgomery Moving Forward (MMF). Starting at county-focus and spurring the creation of MECEC leadership member organization Children’s Opportunity Alliance, MMF’s history of creating cross-sector coalitions to address common challenges directly informs MECEC’s ongoing efforts.
